Fun With Single Track Minded

Remember the magic of running in from school, racing through your homework (under your Mother's watchful eye) gulping down a snack and then bolting outside to grab your bike?

The freedom of whizzing down the street with your friends, whirring in and around the neighbourhood until dusk fell, and your Mother would call you back inside for bathtime...magical. Simply magical.

As part of the Estate's sport program, Coach Ian Wilson and the crew from Single Track Minded recreate some of this magic every Tuesday afternoon at 'Glide and Ride'. In the lessons, through positive affirmation and encouragement, children are taught manners and leadership while their confidence is built.

They are taught road safety, rules of the road, bird identification, how to ride and, if they already know how to ride a bike, their riding skills are improved. STM strives to get children active, and outdoors, creating a path to a healthy lifestyle. It is heartwarming to watch children shriek with delight as they ride into the Heron parking lot, where Coach Ian hands out high-fives, fist bumps and special stars.

If you would like your child to join Glide and Ride, here are the details:

Tuesdays, at Heron Community Cente -

Beginners (balance bikes, fairy wheels or learning to ride) 3.30pm - 4.25pm

Intermediate 4.30pm - 5.30pm

Advanced with Coach Gareth 4.30pm - 5.30pm

STM also hosts the STM Holiday Adventure Club on Simbithi: we will keep you posted for bookings for the March/April school holidays! For more information, WhatsApp Coach Ian Wilson on 073 153 9086.
