Monday, August 12 marked the official start of Phase 1 of the upgrade to our Heron Community Centre and Pizzeria.
As we announced earlier this month, we have embarked on a phased renovation at the Heron. Phase 1 includes the reconstruction of the existing kitchen and pizza oven, renewal of the entrance walkway, removal of existing JoJo tanks and a feasability study for additional parking bays. Read more about that, here.
The contract for the upgrade went out to tender, and six companies were invited to submit costings. We are delighted to announce the appointment of Thorn Construction, who will undertake the project alongside Gerhard Breedt Architects.
Technical Manager Nicky Misra, and Facilities and Maintenance Manager Gary McKenzie were on site yesterday, ensuring demolition got off to a smooth start. The area under construction has been cordoned off with shutterboard and shade cloth, and we request residents to keep the areas clear.
The project is expected to take three months to complete, following which a civil handover to SEEHOA will take place.
During construction, residents please note:
1. The main entrance to the Heron Community Centre is closed. There is a temporary access gate on the right hand side of the Centre, near the outdoor showers.
2. The Pizzeria is closed for the duration of Construction. Areas under construction are strictly out of bounds.
3. The following areas remain accessible: the ablution facilities, braai areas, adventure golf course and swimming pool. Should you elect to use these areas and facilities, please exercise caution as construction work is underway.
We trust we will receive your full co-operation during construction. Plans for the upgrade are available for viewing at the Heron.
